Anybody Can Be Wealthy

Anybody can be wealthy. Money is blind – it knows no skin color, religion, or country. Anyone who has the desire to be wealthy can be wealthy. Wealth cannot discriminate or be selective.
My job requires me to fly around the world and deal with distributors and customers. As such, I have seen and met many wealthy people in my life. Their background could be poor or rich. Some have received good formal education and some did not even pass junior school. Wealthy people range from the savvy to the stupid, the deserving to the undeserving. The one thing common about them is that they had, at some point, said, “Yes, give that to me.” The poor are the ones saying, “No thank you. I am not deserving enough. I am not worth it. I couldn’t, I shouldn’t, and I mustn’t.”
We have always assumed that the poor are poor because of circumstances, upbringing, and background. The fact is, these have nothing to do with being poor. We all have the power to be wealthy. The concept of wealth just has to be shifted.
Many think that one’s parents have to be wealthy before one can have a good head start. But according to Roger Hamilton’s Wealth Dynamics, “Wealth is an attraction, not a tradition.” Everyone has different levels of wealth, and if your level of wealth is low, regardless of how much money you have, you will return to your wealth level. Another way to look at the definition of wealth, from my perspective, has something to do with having so much that you never need to worry about having enough. For example, I have a friend who is so wealthy that he is living off the interest from his capital investments.
For some people, not worrying about wealth might mean having enough to cover emergencies that may arise in your family or home. How much money will you need to define wealth? Perhaps US$10m in the bank. Or a big house and a luxury car. This really depends on your standards. Once you determine the standards by which you can define your personal wealth, you need to have a target, and setting that target or goal is important. Without a target, you are aimless. When you are aimless, you will not have that power from within to get there.
