Know Your Destination, Know Your ‘WHY’ & Create a Vision-Board.

By knowing what wealth means and what it means to you personally, you have clarity of direction and a dedicated focus on your destination. Once you know your destination, you need to develop a route to reach that; you need to have clear direction; you need to have an action plan with clear goals and a timeline within which to reach your ultimate destination. Just like having a GPS system guiding your route, you first need to input your destination. Plus, you would like to know what time you will reach that place and what you will be doing when you get there.

Similarly, you would like to know WHY, HOW, and WHEN you want to be rich. You also want to know what you are going to do when you become rich. With all these in mind, your drive to become rich will be very powerful.

Know Your WHY

I find knowing your WHY most important. Because it fuels you to propel forward even when the going gets tough and many others give up. Your WHY will hold you to your vision (which is your destination). Some of the WHYs could be:
1. To be free from financial dependency
2. To be able to share and make a difference in people’s lives
3. To have early retirement
4. To help the poor
5. To be rich so that your children can live a better life
6. To be powerful so that others can benefit from your power
7. To make a difference in your community
8. To bring your community out of proverty
Etc

To have that wishful thinking is easy. Therefore it is very important to have a clear and specific goals. And goals are plans with clear purposes and timelines. The next step is setting the plans and the timeline. Goals have to be SMART. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and have a Timeline. Actually, you need to decide on the what, why, when, and how. I find that the Achieve-IT software has most of the ingredients to help us to achieve our goals. I, personally, am using it. Love it a lot.

In the movie The Secret, I learnt from the authors that we need to have a clear vision on how we set to achieve our goals. Once we have a clear vision, the confidence to achieve, and passion, we are set to be unstoppable in realizing the vision. I like to have a VISION BOARD. This vision board is placed in front of me daily on my desk, so that I can see it every day. The vision board can be a picture or a diagram that clearly shows the what, why, how, and when of your vision. I have one on my computer screen, too. Every time I power up my Notebook, I will see The Vision. This keeps me driven towards achieving my goal. Along the way, you will meet with difficulties, ups and downs. Your course will change…you may be delayed, but your vision on your destination will bring you back on the course to reach that destination.

Take, for instance, commercial airplanes. They are fitted with a system of directional guidance. All the pilot needs to do is set the destination and auto-pilot takes over. Along the way, there may be turbulences and the plane may have to change course or go off course a little, but as long as the destination doesn’t change, the system will guide it to its final destination. The same goes true for Vision-Board.
